70 years ago, CERN was founded near Geneva in Switzerland. This was also the birth of an unprecedented research project: the planning and construction of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a particle accelerator with which researchers from all over the world want to uncover the secrets of matter and the universe.
Dr. Sven Menke from the Max Planck Institute for Physics describes the insights we have gained since then and the role played by the ATLAS detector. He also takes a look into the future: what can we expect from the technical modernization of the LHC, which is due in the next few years - and what will happen in experimental high-energy physics after that?
