Data protection statement for MPP job applications (please note that only the German version is legally binding)
The Max Planck Institute for Physics collects and stores personal data that you send for your job application, e.g. by e-mail to jobs@mpp.mpg.de.
Information to be provided where personal data are collected from the data subject (GDPR Art. 13)

(1c) Purpose of the processing: job application.
Legal basis for the processing: necessary to carry out the application procedure at the request of the data subject (Art. 88 GDPR in conjunction with § 26 (1) BDSG).
Should it be necessary, after the end of the application procedure, to store your data for a longer period of time for reasons of legal prosecution this will be done to protect our legitimate interests in asserting or defending claims based on Art. 6 (1f) GDPR. In addition, we check your required data against sanctions lists of the currently binding EU regulations; as a legal obligation this processing is based on Art. 6 (1c) GDPR.
(1e) Recipients: the MPP HR department, the selection committee, the equal-opportunity officer, the representative body of disabled persons, and the local works council. The selection committee may include external members to whom the data are transmitted. The data are not transmitted to any other third parties.
Your personal data may be processed within commissioned data processing on systems of BITE GmbH, Magirus-Deutz-Str. 16, 89077 Ulm, Germany, Tel.: 0731/12 11 50-0, E-Mail: info@b-ite.de.
(1f) Transfer to third countries: data are not transferred to third countries.
(2a) Period for which the personal data will be stored: Your data will be stored until the end of the recruitment process. A longer storage takes place only if you have given us your consent.
If you were reimbursed as part of an invitation to an interview, we are legally obliged to keep the necessary accounting data for 10 years. In the context of the comparison with sanction lists, the respective statutory periods are observed.
(2b) You have the following rights concerning your personal data:
- information about the personal data (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification or erasure of personal data (Art. 16 and Art. 17 GDPR),
- limitation of processing (Article 18 of the GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- revocation of consent (Article 7 (3) of the GDPR)

(2d) If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection law or your data protection claims have otherwise been violated in any way, please contact the Data Protection Officer of the Max Planck Society at datenschutz@mpg.de. The supervisory authority responsible for the Max Planck Society is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision, Postfach 606, 91511 Ansbach.
(2e) The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 1 lit. b GDPR (contractual basis) or § 26 BDSG 2018 (data processing to establish an employment relationship) and consent according to Art. 6 1 lit. a GDPR.
(2f) We do not apply automated decision-making or profiling.
(3) The personal data are not used for a purpose other than that for which they are collected.
